The Riddle House

The Riddle House

The house of the Riddles is probably one of the scariest settings around Harry Potter. It is standing on a little hill with a view over the little village Little Hangleton. Once the Riddle house was by a long way the biggest and most impressive house in the surroundings.

However barely fifty years ago the housemaid of the family found the Riddles dead in the lounge of the house. The cause of death could never be explained.

Indeed the pure horror was written in the faces of the three dead persons, nevertheless it seemed, they enjoyed best health at time of death according to the doctors team.

The estate has a gigantic garden, in which a cottage for Frank Bryce, the loyal gardener of the Riddle family was standing. After Frank Bryce had been arrested then because of the murder of the Riddles, - however he was set free a short time later because there was no evidence against him – he retired into the cottage in the garden of the Riddle house.

Frank saw many owners coming and going. Nobody of the new owners was able to hold long on in the house. They all said, the house would disseminate a grim mood.
Sometime a rich man bought it, who entertained it for reason of tax, and rewarded Frank for dealing with his work in the garden.

Since then the Riddle house stands empty. Because of the infraction at his leg Frank was not able to deal with everything so that the house got ruinous slowly. Today the once neat house is shabby. Some windows are nailed up with planks, the roof is holey and ivy grows up the walls of the house wildly.

When it was time again to come back to prevalence Lord Voldemort, alias Tom Riddle, took refuge in his dilapidated parental home with Wormtail and Nagini.
Accidentally Frank saw light in the house at one evening und thought, it would be youths from the village, which came to bother him, but he was miles out. When he browsed through the house moments later, he met Lord Voldemort unfortunately and was murdered from him coolly and without forewarning.

Now there is unfortunately nobody, who could care for the gigantic estate or would do it. The once so gorgeous house will unavoidably get completely ruinous and sometime look like the castle of Sleeping Beauty.

The house became scary to the people of Little Hangleton and especially in the village pub, the "Hanged Man", the elder ones still drag up horror stories about it. One avoids its nearness if possible.
Only sometimes youths throw stones through the windows and the most cocky ones dare to break in sometimes.
